Privacy policy

Six in Sixty (zesinzestig.nl) is a free party game. We don't ask for an account, name, email address or phone number. Below you can read which data is still used and why.
1. What stays on your own phone
The team names and player names you enter, the scores, your language and your theme setting are stored only in your own browser's storage (localStorage). That way you can continue if you accidentally close the app. This data is not sent to us. You can remove it by clearing the site data for zesinzestig.nl in your browser.
2. Anonymous game statistics
To improve the game (for example, to see which words are too hard) we send anonymous data about the game to our server:
- when a game starts, ends or is stopped, and how long it lasted;
- the chosen language, game mode, category, difficulty, theme, number of words, seconds, rounds and teams;
- per turn the number of correct words and which words were shown and guessed;
- the type of device (phone, tablet or computer) and whether the game is installed as an app;
- the country, province/region and town (for example the Netherlands, Gelderland, Ermelo). Cloudflare roughly derives these from your IP address; we do not store the IP address itself;
- the hour and day of the week when the game is played;
- the number of players and teams (not the names), and in Battle of the Ages the chosen generations (for example "Gen Z");
- if you arrive through a link or QR code with a source code (for example
?bron=bakery), that code; it is remembered in your browser for 30 days; - for ads: which ad was shown on which screen, how long that screen was open and whether it was clicked;
- how many games were played on the same device before and how many days ago the previous game was. This counter is stored only in your own browser; we only send the numbers, no ID or anything that recognises your device.
We do not store names, IP addresses, device IDs or other data that can be traced back to you. These statistics cannot be traced back to you.
2b. Requesting a category
If you request a new category in the game, we store the topic and example words you enter, the game language and the country (via Cloudflare). We don't ask for a name or email address and don't store your IP address. So please don't enter names or contact details yourself.
3. Hosting
The website runs on Cloudflare. To show and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address. We do not store your IP address. More information: Cloudflare's privacy policy.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep the game free, a normal game may show one ad on the "Up next" screen, the results screen or the final screen, always below the buttons. These ads come from Google AdSense.
- Before Google places cookies or shows personalised ads, we first ask for your consent through a message from Google. If you don't consent you can still play; you may then see non-personalised ads.
- In the Parents vs Kids mode we load no ads and no consent message.
- Ads are never shown while guessing.
Read how Google uses data: How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can change your consent here:
4b. Local sponsors
Sometimes the game shows the logo of a local business instead of a Google ad. No cookies are placed and no data is shared with the business. If you click the logo, we count that click (anonymously) and send you to the business's website; from there that website's privacy policy applies. Businesses only see totals, such as the number of views per region.
5. Cookies and storage
| What | Purpose | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Game storage in your browser | Saving the game, language, theme setting, offline play | No (necessary for the game to work) |
| Source code from a link (in your browser, 30 days) | Anonymously measuring which flyer or QR code works | No (no personal data) |
| Counter of earlier games (in your browser) | Anonymously measuring whether players return; numbers only, no ID | No (analytics with no or minimal impact on your privacy) |
| Google AdSense cookies | Showing and measuring ads | Yes, through the consent message |
6. Children
The game is suitable for the whole family. We don't ask for any personal data from children. In the Parents vs Kids mode we show no ads.
7. Your rights
Because we don't store personal data about you, there is usually nothing to access or delete. If you do have a question or request, email info@zesinzestig.nl. If you disagree with how we handle data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, the new date will be shown at the top.
